7 Compare Fields

This is section 7 of 11 in the web-book.

First, the behavior of an electric field is described.

Second, the behavior of a gravity field is described.

7.1 An Electric Field

A charged particle generates an electric field.

This field can be envisioned as an expanding sphere from the particle.

The outer edge of this sphere has an invisible field line pointing back to its source. The line indicates where the source of the field has a positive or negative charge.

Maxwell defined permittivity as the response by the medium to an electric field.

The medium affects the strength of the charge signal on the line. The charge on the line diminishes with distance from the source.

There is no physical line nor is a charge actually present or moving on the imaginary line.

This just a convenient way to describe the field. We talk of lines of latitude and longitude because the term line is understood, though there is no physical line on the Earth's surface, though these lines appear on a map.

The lines could be said to carry only information, the charge of the source at this distance from it.

In the entire universe, every charged particle is surrounded by its electric field, indicating its direction and charge.

Any charged particle moving in the universe will instantaneously react to the electric fields permeating space that the medium in space allowed to be present at this point.
This moving particle at its point in space is at the conjunction of all electric fields, though all diminish by distance, has the information of the sum of all charged particles, and the direction to each.

When one charged particle is in the electric field of another than that other particle must be in the electric field of the first. The must be a distance between them.
Coulomb's Law defines the force on the 2 charges.

The vector of this force depends on the polarity of the respective charges.

All of the above is my interpretation of electric charges and the electric force. I cannot propose any changes to this accepted, confirmed behavior.

I present it only as the basis for my Maxwellian gravity.

The above description applies to the 2 fundamental charged particles, the electron and proton.

Both instantaneously react to the sum of all electric fields at the current point in space.

7.2 Gravity field

A proton and electron have both charge and mass.

In this description the word particle refers to either a proton or electron. Both particles have mass.

A particle  generates a gravity field.

This field can be envisioned as an expanding sphere from the particle.

Maxwell defined permittivity as the response by the medium to an electric field, but in this case, there must be a permittivity parameter for a gravity field.

The medium affects the strength of the gravity signal on the line. The gravity signal on the line diminishes with distance from the source.

There is no physical line nor is mass actually present or moving on the imaginary line.

The above description applies to the 2 fundamental particles having mass, the electron and proton.

Both instantaneously react to the sum of all gravity fields at the current point in space.

I propose the gravity field around a mass behaves like an electric field around the charge with important differences.

1)The gravity field has no polarity.
2)This field is affected by the medium but differently than an electric field.
3)An electrically conductive medium can affect an electric field, but it cannot affect a gravity field.

There are stories where a superconductor apparently shields the force of gravity from the object behind it.

This is a change in the medium, affecting the deployment of a gravity field around a particle.

Such an observation conforms to this application of a field defined by Maxwell.
